How we came to be called

THE HUNGRY HOUSE

Welcome to the ministry of The Harvest Word of God Church, also known as The Hungry House. The pastor, Ronnie Rhodes and his wife Betty have been pastoring this church for 9 years. As a small church we have seen God move in mighty ways through his people. We want to tell you a little about how we became the Hungry House.

THE PROPHECY WAS GIVEN

It all began on August 5, 2001 when we began a revival with the Bro. Shane Pippin, from Danville, Ky.. We unknowingly stepped into our "divine destiny" and were about to experience something we had never experienced before.. God had been dealing with the church about prayer and that we needed to be doing more of it. On Aug.9, 2001 Bro. Shane was preaching to our congregation and he started to share this prophecy for our church. Shane had a vision eight years prior in Columbus, Ohio and in this vision he saw a place that was not the "normal" church. This place was not fancy, it did not have any fancy fixtures, nor stained glass windows no steeple, no chandeliers. He saw in this place people who were hungry after God. The Lord told Him to raise this place up, and when he came here he said "Could this be that place?" He saw people hungry for revival that did not last just three days. During this week of revival several people from churches came to enjoy this ministry of Bro. Shane. When he shared this vision our church took hold of it and we are in the process of becoming the Hungry House.. After the week of revival the church went into a six week prayer revival. People came every night to pray for the will of God to be done in this community. We gave keys to the church to anyone who wanted to come and pray anytime they wanted and felt God drawing them to prayer.

STILL GOING STRONG!!!

Many people have never heard of a prayer revival and many made fun of us for coming just to pray but God did some wonderful things for us during that time. At the end of the first six weeks we attended a service called "Shakin' The Gates" in Liberty, Ky. God moved there in a mighty way. When we returned back to our church we felt like God wanted us to go on with the prayer revival so we went another eight weeks before it ended. We thank God for the experience we had during this time and we will never forget what He did in our lives. But this is today and we have to still pray and seek His face. He does not change, we do.

OUR OUTREACH MINISTRIES

We not only want to feed people who are hungry spiritually but we also want to feed those who are physically hungry. We have started a food pantry and have ministered to several families in the area.. We are now involved with the ministry to the homeless. Sis. Betty has been to different homeless shelters, taking supplies and food. We know God is gonna continue to make a way for more mission trips to the homeless. We are also involved with ministry to the elderly. We feel like they are forgotten alot of the time and they need our help.
